Ruby Puff® Waterproof Luxury Dog Blanket

Ruby Puff® has always been the heavyweight of the Animals Matter blanket family. Customers describe it by weight before they mention anything else. The Ruby Puff® Waterproof Luxury Dog Blanket brings that same dense, tightly woven faux fur together with the Luxura-Protect™ waterproof liner, and the first thing you notice picking it up is how substantial it feels.
That weight is not engineered in. There is no bead fill and nothing added to reach a number on a label. It is simply what happens when our heaviest and most luxurious fabric is paired with a full waterproof liner. Ruby Puff® faux fur is thick and tightly woven rather than light and shaggy, drawing its buttery hand from fiber density rather than pile height, and the liner carries its own quiet heft. Together they give the blanket a weighted feel that drapes and stays where you put it instead of sliding off the cushion, and a calming weight for the companion who settles underneath it. The Medium weighs four pounds, the Large six, and the Extra Large eight, and you feel every ounce of it the moment you lift it off the sofa.
Sealed between the two faux fur faces, the Luxura-Protect™ liner helps stop moisture, drool, and occasional accidents before they reach the cushion, duvet, or car seat below. Because the liner sits in the middle rather than on the outside, the blanket is faux fur on both sides and fully reversible. There is no slick utilitarian backing and no wrong side to turn toward your companion or your sofa, which is the entire point of laying it over furniture you chose carefully. It belongs with our luxury dog blankets, our waterproof dog blankets, and our pet furniture protectors and covers. The same signature faux fur runs through the Ruby Collection of dog beds, so the blanket and the bed read as one intentional pairing rather than two separate accessories.
Why it stops at X-Large. That same weight is the reason this blanket comes in three sizes and no larger. A naturally weighty fabric plus a full waterproof liner adds up quickly, and past X-Large the piece becomes genuinely hard to lift, shake out, and put through a wash. We would rather cap the size than ship something you cannot comfortably handle. For a two or three cushion couch, a queen bed, or a king bed, the Cozy Raine Waterproof Blanket™ is the piece built for that coverage.
It is offered in Light Gray, in three sizes: Medium at 29" x 36" for a chair or a car seat, Large at 36" x 58" for a sofa cushion or a dog bed, and X-Large at 56" x 58" for the bed you technically share. Each Ruby Puff® Waterproof Blanket is cut and sewn by hand in Palm Springs, California, so dimensions may vary by up to an inch, which is the handwork showing rather than a flaw. The full size chart, with weights, sits further down the page. The whole blanket machine washes in cold water and line dries, with no heat, and no bleach or bleach alternatives. If you are weighing one waterproof piece against another, our guide to the best waterproof dog blankets walks through the differences.
Why This Waterproof Dog Blanket Is Different
Our waterproof blankets all carry the Luxura-Protect™ liner and are built for different jobs. This one is the weight. The Cozy Raine Waterproof Blanket™ is the coverage piece, scaling to a three-cushion couch or a king bed. The Roxy Luxura-Protect™ Waterproof Luxury Dog Blanket is the lighter reversible option, around two pounds lighter than this blanket in every size. The Ruby Puff® Waterproof is the heavy one: dense, substantial, closer in hand to a weighted throw than to a light fur blanket, and the only waterproof blanket in the line that coordinates with the Ruby Puff® beds.

Best For
Homes with a companion who has claimed a chair, a sofa cushion, or one side of the bed, and who would rather protect the upholstery than announce that it is being protected. It suits companions who settle more readily under something with real weight to it, puppies in training, senior companions with occasional accidents, and travel days that end wetter than they began. For a full couch or a king bed, reach for the Cozy Raine instead.
Weight is the kind of comfort a companion notices long before anyone thinks to mention it.

What makes the Ruby Puff® Waterproof Luxury Dog Blanket waterproof?
A Luxura-Protect™ waterproof liner is sealed between the two faux fur faces, so liquids are stopped before they soak through to the furniture, bedding, or car seat underneath. Because the liner sits in the middle rather than on the outside, the blanket is faux fur on both sides and fully reversible: there is no slick or plasticky backing to see or feel, and no wrong side to turn toward your companion.
Is the Ruby Puff® Waterproof a weighted blanket?
Not in the engineered sense, and we would rather say so plainly. It contains no added bead or pellet fill. Its substantial weight comes from the dense premium faux fur and the Luxura-Protect™ waterproof liner, which are heavy on their own and heavier together. That is also why it is offered in Medium, Large, and Extra Large only: past X-Large the weight becomes difficult to handle and to launder, so we cap the size rather than compromise the materials.
How heavy is it, and why does the weight matter?
Medium weighs 4 pounds, Large weighs 6 pounds, and X-Large weighs 8 pounds. The practical benefit is that a weighted blanket of this kind drapes and stays where you put it instead of sliding off a cushion, and many companions settle more readily under a calming weight than under a light throw.
Will the weight bother my dog?
Most companions settle readily under a weighted feel and some clearly prefer it, but preference varies from dog to dog. If yours has not used a heavier blanket before, start with it folded over once so they choose how much weight they are under, and let them settle on their own. As with any heavy blanket, it should never cover a companion's head, and a dog who cannot easily move out from under it on their own should not be left with it unattended.
Is the Ruby Puff® Waterproof blanket machine washable?
Yes. Machine wash the whole blanket in cold water and line dry it. No heat, and no bleach or bleach alternatives, which protects both the faux fur and the Luxura-Protect™ liner. Because the blanket is heavy, check that your machine has room for it to move freely, and expect a longer line-dry than a light throw.
What sizes and colorways does it come in?
It is offered in one colorway, Light Gray, in three sizes: Medium at 29 by 36 inches, Large at 36 by 58 inches, and X-Large at 56 by 58 inches. Medium suits a chair or a car seat, Large suits a sofa cushion or a dog bed, and X-Large suits a shared bed. Dimensions may vary by up to an inch. Per-size weights are listed in the size chart on this page.
Why does it stop at X-Large instead of covering a full couch?
Weight. A naturally weighty fabric plus a full waterproof liner adds up quickly, and beyond X-Large the blanket becomes hard to lift, shake out, and wash. We would rather cap the size run than ship something unmanageable. For a two or three cushion couch, a queen bed, or a king bed, the Cozy Raine Waterproof Blanket™ is built for that coverage.
How is it different from the Cozy Raine and the Roxy waterproof blankets?
All three carry the Luxura-Protect™ liner and all three are faux fur, and each is built for a different job. The Cozy Raine is the coverage choice, scaling up to a three-cushion couch or a king bed. The Roxy is the lighter reversible option, around two pounds lighter than this blanket in every size. This one is the heavy choice: dense Ruby Puff® faux fur on both sides with a genuinely substantial weight, and the only waterproof blanket in the line that coordinates with the Ruby Puff® beds.
Is it a good choice for puppies and senior companions?
Yes. It is especially useful for puppies in training and for senior companions with occasional accidents, because it protects the surface underneath while still giving the companion a soft, familiar layer to rest on. It is also well suited to travel days and post-adventure cleanup. For a senior who has trouble moving around, the folded-first approach above is the sensible way to introduce it.
Does it coordinate with the Ruby Puff® dog beds?
Yes. It carries the same signature faux fur face used across the Animals Matter Ruby Collection, so the blanket and the bed read as one intentional pairing rather than two separate accessories.
Where is it made?
Each one is cut and sewn by hand in Palm Springs, California, then finished, inspected, and shipped from there. The faux fur is fabric we select and buy rather than weave ourselves, so what happens in Palm Springs is the cutting, the sewing, the finishing, and the inspection before it goes out.
