A waterproof dog bed protects its cushioning with a sealed barrier between the cover and the foam. At Animals Matter®, that barrier is the Luxura-Protect™ waterproof liner. It sits beneath the removable cover, not on the surface your dog rests on, and helps shield the foam insert from spills and occasional accidents. Most beds here offer it as the With Waterproof Liner option; the Ali Jewel® crate pad and the Raine Outdoor Contour Lounger™ include it as standard.
What makes a dog bed waterproof?
A sealed barrier, not the fabric. A dog bed is waterproof when a continuous, non-porous layer sits between the surface and the foam, so spills are kept out of the cushioning. On our beds, that layer is the Luxura-Protect™ liner, and because it sits beneath the cover rather than on top, your dog rests on soft fabric, not on the barrier. The liner is made for spills and occasional accidents. It is not designed for ongoing moisture, since stitched seams may allow seepage over time, so for frequent accidents we suggest draping a Luxura-Protect™ Waterproof Blanket over the bed as an additional layer.

Optional Liner
Nine beds offer the With Waterproof Liner option: the Ruby Puff®, Katie Puff®, Katie Puff® Encore and Ali Jewel® Ortho Loungers; the Ruby, Katie Puff® and Faux Fur Shag Sydney™ beds; and the Katie Puff® and Faux Fur Shag Ortho Rectangles. Choose it, and the Luxura-Protect™ liner sits beneath the cover, over the foam insert.
Built-In Liner
The Ali Jewel® Waterproof Latex Crate Pad has an ultra-thin, breathable Luxura-Protect™ liner built in beneath its padded velvet cover, over a 1-inch latex top bonded to a 1-inch support foam base.
Outdoor Fabric and Liner
The Raine Outdoor Contour Lounger™ pairs Outdura® performance fabric, which is water resistant, with a breathable Luxura-Protect™ waterproof liner that protects the foam. It works indoors, on a deck, or poolside.
WATERPROOF AND WATER RESISTANT
Is a waterproof dog bed the same as a water-resistant one?
No. Water resistant describes a fabric that sheds spills and dries quickly; waterproof describes a sealed barrier. The cozy fabrics on our Ruby Puff®, Katie Puff® and Encore beds are not water resistant on their own, which is why the Luxura-Protect™ liner matters on those styles. On the Raine Outdoor Contour Lounger™, the Outdura® fabric is water resistant and the liner beneath it is waterproof. Which waterproof dog bed suits how your dog rests?
Choose the silhouette first, then add the liner. Loungers such as the Ruby Puff® Ortho Lounger give dogs who sprawl, curl, or lean a spacious bed with bolsters to settle against. Sydney™ styles such as the Ruby Sydney™ Ortho have a low front for stepping in and a sloping bolster headrest. Rectangles such as the Katie Puff® Ortho Rectangle and the Faux Fur Shag Rectangle give dogs who stretch out a flat, open surface. For a crate, the Ali Jewel® Waterproof Latex Crate Pad comes in sizes S to XL.
CRAFTED WITH PURPOSE
What is a waterproof dog bed made of at Animals Matter?
Most beds here are built on Companion-Pedic® memory foam, and designated foam components are CertiPUR-US® certified. Loungers and Sydney™ styles pair the foam with Luxura-Fill® bolsters, our recycled fiber fill. The crate pad uses a latex top over a support foam base, and latex is not memory foam. In every case, the Luxura-Protect™ liner is the waterproof layer. Each bed is finished, inspected, and shipped from Palm Springs, California.
Protected beneath and soft on top, it stays the place your dog chooses, wet paws and all.

Where the barrier sits, how to care for it, and how to choose, answered plainly.
The liner is the waterproof part, not the fabric you see. The Luxura-Protect™ liner sits beneath the cover and helps shield the foam insert. The outer cover unzips for washing, so a spill on the surface is cleaned from the cover while the liner protects the foam beneath it.
On the loungers, Sydney™ beds and rectangles, choose With Waterproof Liner in the Liner option on the product page. The Ali Jewel® Waterproof Latex Crate Pad and the Raine Outdoor Contour Lounger™ include the liner as standard.

The Raine Outdoor Contour Lounger™ is made for indoor and outdoor use, including decks and poolside, with water-resistant Outdura® fabric over a Luxura-Protect™ liner. The other beds in this collection are indoor beds.

Size by the inner resting area, the surface your dog actually lies on, not the outer footprint. Measure your dog in their usual sleeping position, add a few inches to shift and turn, and match that to the inner dimensions listed on each product page. When your dog falls between sizes, choose the larger one.
