The Animals Matter® Companion Car Seat® is an original, patented luxury dog car seat designed to give your companion a more comfortable, elevated, and controlled place to ride. Handcrafted in our Palm Springs manufacturing facility, this signature travel seat blends supportive structure, refined materials, and thoughtful vehicle integration for everyday errands, weekend drives, and longer journeys.

Its scoop-front silhouette is what makes the Companion Car Seat® especially inviting. The contoured front allows easier entry and creates a natural resting position, giving your companion room to sit upright, curl, look out the window, or settle in for the ride. The elevated design may help ease restlessness or motion discomfort for dogs who prefer to see where they are going.

Built with custom Companion-Pedic® foam made in Southern California and CertiPUR-US® Certified comfort, this dog car seat is designed to maintain its structure through repeated travel. The padded Micro Velvet cover is crafted from 100% pure microdenier polyester, giving it the richness and soft hand of high-performance velvet while remaining practical for life on the road.

Installation is designed around your vehicle’s seat belt system. A customized recessed groove allows the lap belt to wrap securely around the front, while the shoulder belt buckles at the top back of the car seat. The included attachment strap clips to your companion’s comfortable harness, helping reduce roaming, lap riding, and driver distraction.

For two compatible companions riding together, add an additional Booster Dog Car Seat Attachment, sold separately. Each Companion Car Seat® includes one attachment strap.

Choose Standard, 2X, or 3X to match your companion’s size and your vehicle setup. Available in Camel and Charcoal; Pink has been discontinued. The removable cover unzips for cold-water machine washing and line drying, while the foam and inserts should not be machine washed. Use in the back seat with a comfortable harness only, and review the Companion Car Seat® installation instructions before travel.

Best For

Best for companions who enjoy an elevated, secure-feeling travel space with a softer scoop-front entry and room to relax. The Standard size is safety-weight rated for dogs up to 20 lbs., the 2X up to 30 lbs., and the 3X up to 45 lbs.; always use the inner dimensions for proper fit and choose the next size up when in doubt.

The suggested weights are for safety only. Use inner dimensions for proper fit. We suggest mapping the inner dimensions of the car seat on the floor around your companion for best fit. It is always better to go with the next size up when in doubt.

Care Instructions

• Cover unzips for cold-water machine washing.
• Line dry only.
• Do not use heat, bleach, or bleach alternatives.
• Inserts and foam are not washable.
• For soiled foam or inserts, spray a solution of half white vinegar and half water on the soiled area and air dry.
• Please allow for natural variations in the velvet fabric.

Important Safety and Installation Notes

• Recommended for back-seat use only.
• Always use with a comfortable harness only.
• The attachment strap should never be clipped to a collar.
• The Standard and 2X sizes install with the lap belt around the front notch and the shoulder belt secured at the top back.
• The 3X does not install like the Standard and 2X sizes.
• The 3X installs on bench-back seats only.
• The shoulder strap goes through the loop in the center back of the 3X car seat.
• Review the included installation directions before first use.
